Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

Psalm 29:1-2
Psalm 29 is a wonderful passage to help you focus your prayers of adoration on the Lord. It recounts the majestic, powerful, and glorious nature of God. The psalmist positions us to worship the Lord by demonstrating how worthy He is. Yesterday we looked at how God has shaped creation to testify to Him and to compel us to worship. Today we look at worship itself, our response to the demonstrated power of God. Shaking the wilderness, thundering over the waters, breaking the cedars of Lebanon, the Lord is great and powerful. Worthy is He to be praised.
There is none who can stand before the Lord, for He is the Almighty. This is our God! There is none who can compare. Worthy is He of all praise. He is King forever, and His people cry out, “Glory!” Why should His people fear? The man with the largest, most powerful army does not fear any other. So the people of God have no fear of earthly armies, for our God strips the forests bare. He is the God of Glory. Our defender prevails, and He brings the nations to their knees.
