“The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. …His master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did.”

Genesis 39:2-3
Even when we go back to the beginning of the Old Testament, we can see what it was like when God’s people had clearly been with Him. Look at Joseph whose life was filled with unexpected turns.
By no means was it an easy life. Recall how his jealous brothers plotted to kill him but instead sold him into slavery. In everything he did through his years of captivity, God worked it for good.
The Bible doesn’t say Joseph’s temptations and trials were good. But Joseph hung on to the God of his life, refusing to sin against Him (39:9), giving Him the credit for helping him (41:16), never forgetting His mercies. God was with him, working it all for good.
He’ll be with you, too, through the troubles of your life. You can hang onto promises like Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” The outlook may not be promising. Your life may not have grand success like Joseph’s eventually did. But when you stay close to the One who saved you, you know He’s working it all for your good.
