"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."
(Colossians 3:2-3)

Colossians 3:1-17
Within the walls of life with Him, Jesus speaks in our hearts to overrule the tendencies of the old nature, tendencies to which He gave the death blow on the cross and releases the potential of His new nature in our lives.

We need to treasure this close fellowship with Jesus! We are beyond the reach of the adversary because we are within the walls of Christ. It is our undisturbed personal walk with Him.

A part of this hiddenness behind the walls is that our fears are allayed by the Lord, our temptations are less sharp, our obedience possible and our remaining sinful tendencies tempered and forgiven. It is in this inner sanctum with Him that we are recreated each day in Jesus’ image and where we experience the fullness of joy and the peace which He promised us.

This peace citadel cannot be invaded by adverse circumstances, or by the world’s judgement or criticism. As long as we do not give these things that pull us down permission to enter, we remain safe in Jesus. We are hidden with Christ in God!

Insight

However radically our old fallen nature tries to reassert itself, we should remember it is not a reality but only something to be dismissed.
