“Again Jesus said, ‘Simon son of John, do you truly love me?’ He answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Take care of my sheep.’”

John 21:16
What is one of the best parts about birthdays? Let’s admit it—we love going to the mailbox to find birthday cards! It’s a joy to know that people are thinking about us and caring for us. But can we also admit that sometimes in our Christian walk, we don’t always feel cared for or loved by God?
Friends, Christ is in heaven, but He shows His care and love for us daily by giving us under-shepherds; or, in other words, pastors and elders. Jesus is the Chief Shepherd who laid down His life for His flock, and because you are so precious to Him, He charges them with caring for your souls, feeding you the Word, and protecting you from wolves or false teachers (see Hebrews 13:17, Ephesians 4:11, and Acts 20: 28-29).
The earth is full of under-shepherds, imperfect though they may be. But by the Holy Spirit they are equipped to care for you and love you until the day you meet the Chief Shepherd face to face.
With great joy, seek out and surround yourself with good under-shepherds. Jesus says you will know them by their fruit.
