“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5
We’ve all been totally helpless before. When we were born, we were completely dependent on our parents’ nurturing and provision for our needs. Without them or unless someone had come along to care for us, we would have perished.
The total dependence we have on God is not unlike this because we must be connected to Him at all times or our souls will suffer. The sinful nature that marks each one of us does not allow us to live independent of our Savior without sorrow. Often we try to do life “on our own,” only to fall back into the hands of our Father. God wants the best for you, and you can trust Him implicitly like a baby who automatically and fully trusts his parent.
I see that in Cuba, Christians are much less likely to trust in themselves. Much more than their fellow believers in other developed countries, they must exercise total dependence on God. Many have seen miracles. Whether you know the luxuries of a free country or not, we all can and must come to Jesus like little children—utterly dependent on Him.
