“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

Ephesians 5:15-16
I seem to ask myself on a regular basis, where did the time go? Like me, your days may be filled with meeting deadlines, making decisions, answering emails, responding to texts, following favorite shows and social media accounts, going to church activities, reserving time for family, etc. Are we spending time with God? Designating time to rest? Are we making the best use of the time we have?
On my last trip to Cuba, I was given a glimpse of what time well-spent is like. Though we had ministry commitments to regard, the days seemed long because we were occupied building relationships, discipling each other, or simply being with loved ones. Due to technological limitations, we resorted to visiting neighbors for a cup of coffee, having conversations in person, playing board games, and seizing divine opportunities to speak about Jesus.
That sort of almost-ideal daily routine may be hard to come by in the States. But we can look hard at our own lives to ensure we are “making the most of every opportunity” to make Jesus’ name known daily.
