"...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable ... think about such things."
(PHILIPPIANS 4:8)

Galatians 5:16-26
It’s been said that what goes into a mind comes out in a life. In other words, the things that we see and hear, and the thoughts we allow to occupy our attention in the privacy of our minds, will eventually make their presence known. They will become evident in our words and in our deeds.

This is true on both ends of the spectrum for believers. When we give sinful thoughts safe harbor in our minds, our fellowship with Christ is disrupted and sin begins to abound. Conversely, when we meditate on God’s Word and fill our minds with things that are excellent and praiseworthy, we enjoy the presence of the God of peace.

This is not merely the power of positive thinking, popular though that may be. This is the benefit of obedience to Jesus Christ! When we fill our minds with His truth, we deepen our relationship with the One who says, “I am the Truth.” When we dwell on noble things, our thoughts are acceptable to the King of kings. In time, by the power of His Spirit, our lives are conformed to His image.
