"I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds."
(John 12:24)

John 12:23-36;
Galatians 3:15-16
The area where we live in Virginia is heavily wooded with forests of pine, crepe myrtle, holly, hickory and lots of oak trees, their tiny acorns covering the ground. Each one of those millions of fallen acorns holds the potential to be a great oak tree. Can you imagine an acorn, or any seed, resisting falling to the ground? The sole purpose of an acorn is to fall to the ground and grow into an oak tree, producing thousands more acorns!

Jesus is the offspring – the Seed – that was promised to Eve (Genesis 3:15) and later to Abraham (Galatians 3:16). God also told Abraham that his offspring would be as countless as the stars (Genesis 15:5). Jesus knew His purpose coming to earth was to die, and in doing so, bringing many others to become the offspring of Abraham by faith. It was His hour of glory! Paul tells us in Galatians 3:29, “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Jesus’ death produced many seeds, all of whose purpose is to die with Him and live in Him throughout eternity!
