"All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 'The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel'- which means, 'God with us.'"
(Matthew 1:22-23)

Isaiah 53
Rarely have future events been foretold with as much attention to detail as those of Old Testament writers regarding the advent of Jesus. As far back as Genesis, the details of His coming were received and pondered by those God commissioned to prophesy of Him…His descent in the line of Israel’s King David (Jeremiah 23:5) of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14) in the little town of Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), and so on.

All these details and many more came to pass just as they were described hundreds of years earlier. What marvelous, confirming evidence that God has always had a plan for resolving the great human sin problem! He revealed the specifics of the baby born to Mary, leaving no room for doubt that this was the Messiah. This same Jesus is also the powerful fulfillment of many other prophecies about His coming… the sacrificial work He would live and die to accomplish for our sakes!

The baby we celebrate at Christmas was destined to be the Savior of the world. Is He yours?
