"Train a child in the way he should go, and when
he is old he will not turn from it.
(PROVERBS 22:6)

Deuteronomy 6:1-9
If you were raised by hospitable parents, chances are good that you have a leg up on showing hospitality yourself. It is a blessing I hope you savor! Hospitality is a gift that ought to be passed from one generation to the next…
lessons learned through frequent exposure and intentional teaching.

And there is no better teacher than experience! Children almost always find joy and fun in helping. Even unglamorous tasks like straightening their rooms or running the vacuum take on higher purpose when they are part of a job well-planned and executed, imbued with happy anticipation of the end result.

Jesus took time to teach little ones. He knows how eager they are to learn, to be part of things, how impressionable their minds are. Involving children in learning about hospitality helps them work through at an early age the doubts and insecurities that plague us as adults with no prior experience.

May you be richly blessed as you welcome one another, just as Christ has welcomed you (see Romans 15:7).
