"Jesus stopped and called them. 'What do you want me to do for you?' he asked. 'Lord,' they answered,
'we want our sight.'"
(MATTHEW 20:32-33)

Matthew 20:29-34
Imagine being an outcast of society, blind, begging, having no hope. Then you hear about Jesus. He’s known to have done great things, and He’s soon to be coming your way. Others may pay you no attention, but this Jesus is perhaps your only chance. So you risk the ridicule. When Jesus is within distance, you yell, “Help!” The crowd rebukes you, but you call out even louder! Jesus stops and asks what you want from Him. You respond, “sight.” With compassion you’ve never felt and certainly never seen, Jesus touches your eyes and removes your blindness.

“Immediately they received their sight” (v. 34). Was there anything these two men had done to earn having their vision restored? As far as we know, Jesus and His disciples had never met them before. Jesus’ compassion simply overwhelmed Him, and at that very moment He welcomed these two fellows into the fold. Jesus would never pass that way again, for He went on from there to Jerusalem to die. But who followed Him? The two men! Why don’t you come to Jesus today?
