“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

Matthew 25:21
Thirty-some years after the baby from Bethlehem had grown up, He would speak about His kingdom. Today’s passage in Matthew addresses investing what we have. It tells the story of a man who entrusted various amounts of property to his servants. When he returned from a trip, he wanted to settle accounts. Some showed gains since they had invested their portions. Pleased, the man shared the increase with them. One servant, however, had done nothing with the property entrusted to him. In anger, the master said to take his portion from him, “And throw that worthless servant outside” (v. 30).
Did you know we all deserve to be thrown out like that “worthless servant”? Each of us is in a different place as we go about our activities this Advent. We may be content, or we may be in pain. We may be growing in faith or stunted. Jesus came for us, right where we are… not as He did in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago. He is coming right into your heart. Will He see a return on His investment? He invested everything to make us His own.
