"The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: 'You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.'"
(PSALM 110:4)

Hebrews 6:13-20
Many of us have made oaths we did not keep or had promises made to us which others failed to keep. Like me, you may have promised in your youth to be good, to stay away from drugs, and to avoid gangs and bad behavior. While our promises are made and broken often, God makes oaths that can never be broken.

Humans swear by someone greater than they. But when God makes an oath, He swears it by Himself. We are all prone to lying regarding our oaths, but God cannot lie. This is why Christians have hope, an anchor for our souls. Like Abraham, we are in a covenant relationship with God. Abraham received the promise of a son, and through that promise which held through the generations, we received Jesus, our High-Priest and Savior.

At the very beginning of time, God promised Adam and Eve that He would send a seed of a woman as the Savior. In the hope of eternal life in Christ, we rejoice because our God is faithful. “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23).
