"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'"
(Isaiah 52:7)

Isaiah 52:7-12
Recently I spent three days in the High Sierras along the Pacific Coast Trail. The mountains, while tough to climb, provide vistas of the valleys below. There are beautiful, sweet-smelling, towering pines. Fascinating granite outcroppings jut out on the range of peaks before you. Especially at a place like this, the unsurpassed majesty of Christ’s creation is evident.

Yet, in this verse from Isaiah, the beauty of those who bring the good news of peace found in Christ surpasses even the beauty of creation. Because “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). While the beauty of creation shouts out about the existence of a Creator, the Gospel shouts out about the salvation in Christ that the Creator has provided in His love.

The creation proclaims God; the Gospel provides for the restoration of creation. People are changed by the Gospel. They are born anew. Creation still groans under the weight of the curse of sin. But all creatures found in Christ are restored now by the Gospel.
