“When Jesus saw their faith, he said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven.’”

Luke 5:20
Words of forgiveness are always welcome. An “I forgive you” between small children, co-workers, spouses, or neighbors can be the sweetest words to hurting relationships. But when those words come from Jesus… wow! It means our sins are gone, buried, thrown into the deepest sea! We are on our way to heaven.
Think about the fascinating Luke 5 story of the paralyzed man being lowered through the roof to be healed by Jesus. The men went to great lengths to get their friend to Jesus. But Jesus went to even greater lengths showing that the most important healing was a healing of the man’s sinful heart. The religious leaders were indignant and shocked. “This is blasphemy!” they said. Thousands of years later we still need reminding that Jesus came to bring salvation, and all who confess their sins and believe in Him will receive eternal life.
What on earth can be better than to have our sins forgiven by Jesus? When He whispers into our hearts, “Your sins are forgiven,” those are the sweetest words we will ever hear.
