“Praise the LORD …for he knows how we are formed, he
Remembers that we are dust.”

Psalm 103:1, 14
Though thoughts of Thanksgiving are around us, sometimes we can’t help reflecting on all that could have been, on all that we should and could have done. We look at our lives and try to measure if we have been successes or failures. We use worldly, perhaps materialistic ways to gauge this, and we see that we fall short.
Then we hear David speaking to the Lord. We hear him say what we humbly need to accept: that our Lord knows everything there is to know about us, since He formed us from dust, and to dust shall we return.
Shouldn’t we then rejoice at this very moment and praise God for making us a miniscule part of His gigantic plan of creation and redemption? Shouldn’t we, on bended knees, thank God for who He is and what He has done with our lives? Shouldn’t we seize the day, and live it to praise and glorify Him?
It is time to surrender all our failure, all our sadness, all our anxiety, and all our worries at the feet of our Lord. It is time to proclaim with everything in us, “Thank you, and I love you, Lord.” [Sunil, Kolkata, West Bengal, India; first year student]
