"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome
evil with good."
(ROMANS 12:20)

Romans 12:9-21
A few days ago a large storage pod appeared in front of my apartment taking up three spaces where parking is limited. When I went out to investigate and rolled open the door, I saw that the storage unit was empty. Just then an extremely angry woman and her boyfriend came over, yelling at me. Rather than letting their caustic remarks bother me, I offered my assistance. Moments later I was teamed up with the man to move their couch while he apologized profusely for his earlier outrage.

I learned that they had just been evicted and were given only a few hours to pack. My kindness extended to them may be one of very few blessings they would know in this difficult time. I’m glad I did not miss the look on their faces. I believe they were surprised by grace!

And isn’t that what we all are – surprised by grace? We know we truly do not deserve the compassion our Savior has extended to us. All the evil that flows out of us has been overcome by His good. Christ’s graciousness to us moves us to show the same to others.
