"If anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense - Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and... for the sins of the whole world."
(1 JOHN 2:1-2)

1 John 1:5-9
Each year around April I notice it’s difficult to see through my windows. Over winter, dirt films the glass so gradually I don’t even see the buildup. When spring arrives, the sun’s rays come at angles that illuminate the grime. Going up and down ladders with buckets of hot water and paper towels is shoulder-aching business. But the results are amazing, and the house floods with bright, pure light!

From time to time, the same thing happens to the windows of our souls. They get clouded with disobedience, pride, worldly desire, and all the smudgy fingerprints we leave when meddling in areas over which God must be sovereign. We find ourselves squinting in the half-light and wondering how things got this way.

That’s when we need the powerful cleansing of the Holy Spirit, beginning with our repentance and awareness of sin’s interference with God’s light. Through His perfect life on earth and His death for us on the cross, Jesus has already done the work for us. He forgives, cleanses and shines through us again!
