"For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the
hungry with good things."
(PSALM 107:9)

Colossians 3:12-17, 4:5
Occasionally, I fly into the little northern Michigan town my parents have called home for 40 years. Dad is always parked at the curb, ready to toss my bag into the trunk. “Aren’t you hungry?” he asks, pulling away. “We better stop for tacos.” This same script has greeted guests for years!

Truthfully, the tacos are somewhat mediocre, but they always taste delicious, filling us with something more nourishing than food…such is the power of true hospitality! It’s an act of personal, intentional caring that touches the soul’s need for warm comfort and a genuine welcome.

On a Judean hillside, Jesus fed thousands a modest supper of barley bread and smoked fish. After a long day out in the sun, His hungry followers must have relished every bite, touched by the Master’s loving concern for their physical welfare. In teaching them how to pray and ask God to supply their daily provision of food, He addressed the deep hunger for the spiritual nourishment they would find in Him – that we would find in Him! – as well.
