"Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with
music and song."
(PSALM 95:1-2)

Psalm 57:7-11; Isaiah 12:4-6
In the midst of our Palm Sunday service, the volume and intensity of our congregational singing suddenly swelled as “The Old Rugged Cross” got underway. Each time we sang the chorus, one female voice soared above all the others in a glorious, heartfelt harmony. I could hardly contain my joy as it was so special
and moving.

After the service, I sought the woman out to express my appreciation. “Oh, I know I’m too loud,” she responded, smiling. “But I just can’t hold back when we sing that hymn after all that Jesus has done for me!” I assured her that she had added greatly to our musical offering
to the Lord.

Jesus deserves a robust response, both collectively and individually, to His breathtaking sacrifice of Himself on a cruel cross for our sins. If we are able to, who would not want to pour out his or her heart in thankfulness for so amazing a mercy? Let’s never miss an opportunity to boldly declare our love for Christ in every way we can. It’s a welcome sound to Him… and to those around us.
