“They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.’”

John 4:42
It’s not complicated. As Haven Ministries proclaims, “It’s all about Jesus!” Why is this such an important issue? Chuck Colson said, “The most terrifying truth I have discovered in life is the banality of evil; the most ordinary people are capable of the most horrific sin; it is in us all” (2008). We need a Savior.
The word savior designates a deliverer, a preserver, a rescuer—that’s Jesus! In John 4 Jesus reaches out to the Samaritan woman. She was among those the Jews deemed unfit for salvation. But Jesus went out of His way to find her and show her that God’s saving arm is long enough to rescue even those who seem beyond His reach.
I met up for lunch with a young man who told me, “I’ve been in the church all my life, was baptized and confirmed, but I don’t know Jesus.” I drew out on a napkin a simple explanation of salvation. There in the restaurant, he prayed to ask Jesus to come into his life. Are you nominally “religious”? Are you in outright rebellion to Christ? Anyone can draw near to the Savior of the world.
