“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me… and you will find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:28-29
You might say you haven’t really lived until you come to Jesus. When you do, motives and desires change; life is reoriented around the One who is Lord of your life.
You would think that then you would leave behind your list of wants and desires. As believers, won’t we simply “seek first the kingdom of God” and then find that all these things will be given to us? Won’t life in Christ be carefree and easygoing? If that were true, Jesus would not have had to assure us with the words of today’s Scripture passage.
Our Lord knows how our hearts operate in this sin-tainted world. We are quickly caught up in temptations and wants, demanding schedules, and temporary relief from exhaustion. Some days the burden of it all makes it hard to even get out of bed.
But Jesus carried the weight of the world on His shoulders for you. He took the punishment for all your sin and did away with it at the cross. He enlivens you with His Spirit and gives meaning to your life. He alone offers true rest for your soul. Go find it in Him!
