"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
(ISAIAH 40:31)

2 Chronicles 20:15-17
While out on bond and awaiting trial, I was saved. Soon after, I found myself mad at God because He didn’t make a way of escape for me at the trial. I had just been sentenced by a non-Christian judge, and my fury grew when I was taken to a county jail cell before transferring to a prison. How could God do this to me? In my anger, I picked up my Bible (which, remarkably, they let me have) and threw it in the corner of the cell. It lay there for three days until I realized there was nothing else for me to do but pick it up. I said, “All right, Lord, if you’re truly real, show me a verse to carry me through.” I dropped the Bible on the bunk, and it opened to Isaiah 40:31, our key verse for today.

While opening the Bible randomly like that does not always change a heart, it was just what I needed to hear at that time. In humility I said, “Thank you, Lord. You win!”

Can you wait upon the Lord to renew your strength? Let God be in control of your life. See what He can do and how free you can be.
