“Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

Psalm 103:2
We’ve all been there before. Clearheaded, we leave the house, go to the store, and stand in the aisle trying to remember what it is we need to purchase for dinner. We think to ourselves, “Now what was I supposed to buy? I thought I’d remember. I should have made a list.”
If we’re honest with ourselves, we forget things all the time. This goes not just for the small things in life, but also for the big things. Humans are plagued by forgetfulness.
David’s words in Psalm 103:2 urge us to remember the big things—God’s benefits. Not only are we exhorted to praise the Lord, but we should remember all His benefits. In the following verses, he lists many: forgiveness, healing, and redemption, to name a few. All of these, of course, are given to us through Jesus Christ. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Today is the day to remember Jesus Christ and the benefits God brings to you through Him. [Jeremy, Idyllwild, CA; first year student]
