"Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name."
(PSALM 103:1)

Psalm 103
After marveling this month at the number of ways the Lord has showered us with blessings, we now turn our blessing – our praise – back to Him.

Verse 11 of this psalm tells us that God has a great love for those who fear Him. If you look at various translations, you begin to see that the word rendered as “love” has rich meaning. You may read “mercy,” or “lovingkindness,” or “steadfast love.” These are trying to give expression to a Hebrew word, chesed. I like the way Sally Lloyd Jones translates it: “the never stopping, never giving up, unbreaking, always and forever love of God.” It’s a love that He has bestowed on us from before the creation of time, a love that comes to us despite our sin. This love sent Jesus to the cross so that our transgression might be removed from us as far as the east is from the west (v. 12). It’s steadfast because it is rooted in God’s character and promises, not in our up-and-down obedience.

That is the best reason of all to praise God, to bless God, to heartily thank God today.
