“The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.’”

Jeremiah 31:3
In the Garden of Eden when Satan crept into God’s new and perfect creation, the father of lies began to sow seeds of uncertainty in Adam and Eve. Satan planted a thought that grew into doubt that propagated a whole world of lies. That thought was, Does God really love me?
By getting God’s children to consider this possibility, Satan slithered in. In Genesis 2, God is always “Lord God,” His personal revealed name indicating His deep, never-giving-up love. But when Satan speaks to Eve in Genesis 3, he uses the more impersonal name “God.” Eve follows suit. Subtly he distances Eve just a bit from the loving Father who made her.
And then, of course, with the decision to sin, that distance became impossibly great. Think of how the name “God” often keeps matters of faith impersonal still today. Few grow uptight when you speak generically of “God.” But many do when you mention Jesus Christ. Don’t let Satan use his crafty ways to make God seem distant to you. Remember the name of your personal Lord God who will always love you.
