But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31
Joey is a baptized member of the New Life Prison Community congregation. Since he belongs to the body of Christ, he shares his interests with other believers, sometimes showing us photographs of his mom taken in the prison’s visiting room or telling us about how he talked to his dog Scooby on the phone. If it’s important to Joey, it’s important to us.

Recently, Joey acquired a book about birds of prey. Within its pages are pictures of eagles and hawks. One of the photos shows an eagle in flight swooping low over water and grasping a large fish in its talons. Seeing that reminded me of my favorite verse, Isaiah 40:31. So I took the time to share the verse with Joey.

Placing our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ will bring spiritual renewal into our lives. He is a God who keeps His promises, providing strength for those who are weakened by the difficulties of life. In Christ, God lifts us high on the powerful updrafts of the Spirit’s wind. Though we may feel downtrodden, He enables us to soar like eagles in flight.
