I had the leaders of Judah go up on top of the wall. I also assigned two large choirs to give thanks.

Nehemiah 12:31a
Despite the technological trends which have altered the way we communicate, a handwritten note of thanks is still welcomed in almost any situation. Hasn’t every mom sat her kid down to write thank-you notes after birthday, Christmas, and graduation gifts arrived?
During the great restoration of Israel from their long Babylonian captivity, Ezra and Nehemiah oversaw the details of reestablishing life for God’s people. The temple and Jerusalem would be rebuilt. The city walls would be restored. The covenant between God and His people would be renewed. Everything was being set right again. And in the midst of it all, Nehemiah assigned two large choirs to be positioned on top of the city wall. They would sing as they proceeded along that wall and then would take their places in the house of God. What were they to sing? Songs of thanks! They were the Thank-you Note Choir!
The people were to express thanks to their great God for His restoring, redeeming ways. Make sure your daily prayers sing out of your thanks to Him, too.
