"...God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water."
(1 PETER 3:20)

Genesis 6:6-19
One hundred years is a long time. That is how long the Lord held back His wrath on the world of Noah’s day – long enough for Noah and his sons to build the ark that would save them from the impending worldwide flood. God knew it would take that long to build it, but Noah wasn’t just building the ark. Peter, in 2 Peter 2:5, calls him “Noah, a preacher of righteousness.” What did he preach? Noah preached the Gospel, warning the world to repent and turn to God.

Jesus, too, preached the same message. The first words of His ministry were a call to repent, for the kingdom of God had come (Mark 1:15).

God delayed 100 years in the days of Noah before the heavens and the earth broke with the destructive power of floodwaters. For the past 2,000 years God has delayed His great and final judgment. Praise God for His mercy. Noah and his family escaped God’s wrath by being safely kept in the ark. We need to tell others that judgment is coming but that they can be kept safe in the refuge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
