"The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance."
(Psalm 16:6)

Psalm 16
The walls of the city not only defend us from attack from without, they also form the Lord’s borders for us.

Amy Carmichael wrote, “There are many things we should greatly like to do, and there are many things we long to do, but our borders keep us hedged from these. We cannot cross our borders. They surround us on every side. Only God knows our borders.”

We must look to God to give us those works which He has “prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). He will lay them on our hearts in an unmistakable way. We will have no peace of mind if we succumb to impulses to cross our border to do something else or in addition to the charge the Lord lays on our hearts. Only work given by the Lord will flourish. You will know His voice and recognize what He wants you to undertake.

The will of God is good, perfect and acceptable. He promises us peace within the walls of His love. The walls, our borders, guarantee a peace which passes all understanding, a peace we would not know outside the bounds of His love.
