“My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.”

Psalm 62:7
As Jesus prepared His disciples for His departure back to the Father after His soon-to-be death and resurrection, He knew they would be perplexed until sometime later and that in the meantime they would be shaken. Their friendship had formed a strong bond.
Sometimes we are shaken by life’s events, too. Jesus has seemed close. Many of us have formed a strong bond of friendship with Him. But then along comes great loss, horrific news, confusion, disappointment, or worry about our future. Suddenly, our heavenly peace is threatened. Jesus promised the disciples that He would send them the Holy Spirit and provide the kind of peace that the world would not comprehend (John 14:25-27). He also promised this Counselor to us who believe in Him.
Like children who come with their troubles to empathetic parents, we pour out our hearts to our Heavenly Father in Jesus’ name. We give Him our frustrations, tears, exhaustion, anger, and questions. Our Mighty Rock whose promises are trustworthy and true gives us supernatural soul rest.
