"Guard my life and rescue me; let me not be put
to shame, for I take refuge in you."
(PSALM 25:20)

Psalm 27:1-6
There were many times in David’s life when he ran to the Lord, pleading with God to guard his life and rescue him. Regardless of his history of sin, David knew the One who was his only hiding place, his refuge, the One who would not let David be put to shame.

In the depths of my own brokenness, I have a place to run to that is the refuge I need. You, too, have that same hiding place! It’s where your fears are whispered, cried out, and released. Our eternity is set, our future destination is known. In that there is much peace. We can sing along with the words of the contemporary song:

You are my hiding place/You always fill my heart/With songs of deliverance/Whenever I am afraid/I will trust in You/I will trust in You/Let the weak say/I am strong/In the strength of the Lord (Michael Ledner, 1981).

Jesus Christ is a daily refuge for the wearied heart. Whether your struggle is with cancer as mine is, or with some other burden, we can be assured our deliverance is complete, and our refuge is sure.
