“Then the angel said to me, ‘Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’”

Revelation 19:9a
Just a few short weeks before we deployed in 2013, I conducted a wedding for one of the soldiers who would deploy with me. While we were at Ft. Hood mobilizing for the deployment, I conducted an unofficial ceremony for a couple who’d been married by a Justice of the Peace just prior to our departure. Over the course of writing these devotions, I was honored to conduct the wedding of another soldier who deployed with me, as well as one other soldier belonging to my old unit.
In a sense, that now marks four weddings and two funerals. In Army terms, that is probably a realistic snapshot of both the joys and sorrows of being a chaplain. But as I told the couples before their weddings, love and life will one day prevail over death for all those who belong to Jesus Christ.
It is no coincidence that the day when Jesus comes again will also be The Day when the Church of Christ enjoys her wedding feast with Him. When that glorious time comes, there’ll be no more tears. Are you on the guest list? Come!
