“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

1 Peter 1:3
We hope for many things: tax refunds, pay raises, better life situations, a good retirement, etc. What do you hope for? There are two kinds of hope. One is simply a wish expressed by “I hope so.” The other is an assurance that gives us confidence to look to the future, and that is the hope described in the Bible. Peter says through the resurrection of Jesus we have a living hope. What is that living hope that is more than just wishful thinking?
With confident assurance we look forward to all of this: An inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade and is kept in heaven, the most secure place possible; the preservation of our salvation because God shields it as we endure all kinds of trials in this life; praise, honor and glory when Christ returns because our faith is refined and made real from life’s trials; the salvation of our souls, which is the goal of our faith.
One of the incredible blessings of Easter is we have a hope that rose up with Christ from the dead. Our hope is living because He is risen!
