“‘Because he loves me,’ says the Lord, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.’”

Psalm 91:14
We had been away a few days at beautiful Lake Tahoe, and with a few minutes on the dock, scanning God’s created beauty (no fish biting), I began to focus on Him, His wonderful creation, and the bit of snow still on top of the mountains. Psalm 91 came to mind, followed by the words of this old hymn: “More love to Thee, O Christ,/ More love to Thee!/ Hear Thou the prayer I make/ on bended knee./ This is my earnest plea:/ More love, O Christ, to Thee,/ More love to Thee,/ More love to Thee!” The next thing I knew, tears began to flow.
Living in this complicated world and inundated with news stories of chaos could almost undo a person. It causes me to realize hope is found only in Jesus.
Physical fitness authorities encourage us to strengthen our core muscles. Spiritually, a core goal should be to strengthen our relationship with Christ. Jesus says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). Begin here, and then allow His love to flow to others.
