It’s not easy to share the Gospel with some adults. They may be callous or hostile to the message of salvation. But it can be as challenging to talk about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection with children.


Children may struggle with the concept of death. They don’t understand the personalities of the twelve disciples. They may not grasp why the Romans ruled over Israel. So with all this stacked against us, how do we share the good news of Jesus Christ with them?


We do it by meeting them in the areas they do understand. Young children have felt sadness when separated from those they love. They may recall the joy of being reunited. We can tell of Jesus’ death and describe how sad His friends were because they thought they would not see Him again. Then we can describe their joy when they learned He did not stay dead.


The finer points of the theology can wait till a young child is ready. For now, they may simply relate to the emotions of Jesus’ followers, including their joys and sorrows. That’s a good place to start.
