"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."
(JAMES 1:12)

Romans 5:1-5; 1 Peter 1:3-9
Beethoven was just 29 when he began going deaf; much of his composition and performance was still ahead of him. He’d been steeped in music since early childhood, so he could adapt his musicianship to his new reality, sometimes with the aid of amplification devices. His life was not easy, though. He struggled with depression and a bad temper as well as feelings of isolation, particularly when he couldn’t hear his audiences’ applause. Yet he prevailed as a creative person, maximizing his
extraordinary gifts.

Whatever changes life holds for us, we can adapt to them if we stay steeped in God’s Word and listen to the leading of our source of strength, Jesus Christ. Nothing can defeat us, though life might look somewhat or completely different. Sometimes we may have to hold onto Him for dear life, and sometimes He is ready to usher us, or those we love, into the next life. But He will be with us; He won’t leave us alone (Hebrews 13:5). We can prevail because He prevails and will continue to do so forever.
