“An angel of the Lord appeared to them… and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.’”

Luke 2:9-10
Do you feel like your life is boring? That other people’s jobs, family life, or influence are more meaningful than yours? Have you started to believe that God cares less about you than He does other people? This text will encourage you today. God, in His wisdom, did not choose to reveal the news of Jesus’ birth to the privileged. He went first to average, ordinary fellows.
He selected a handful of rugged shepherds to receive the great Christmas message. What a gift to these simple men, living on the fringes of society. Notice that the encounter moved them from fear to boldness as they saw Jesus and recognized who He was: “When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them” (v. 17-18). They went from the fringes to the center of the story of redemption.
When we encounter the glory of the Lord, we are forever changed to be influencers, visibly used by God to bless others, regardless of our circumstances.
