"And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature,
and in favor with God and men."
(LUKE 2:52)

Luke 2:33-52
There are few details of Jesus’ years growing up. Yet Scripture tells that as a man, He went on to preach, heal, cast out demons, and present the kingdom of God to the people. His birth was just the beginning; the greatest work He came to earth to do was still ahead.

If you are sad, tired, or feeling let down as the Christmas celebrations end, compare today to the day after a wedding. Much planning and excitement take place beforehand, but the wedding is really just the beginning. Now the bridal couple has the rest of their lives to know each other and grow in love. We can look at the day after Christmas similarly. After celebrating His birth and receiving this wonderful gift from God, we have a lifetime to know Him better! This is how all of us can do what Charles Dickens said of his character Ebenezer Scrooge: “he knew how to keep Christmas well.”

Long winter days may lie ahead for you. As you draw near to Jesus, know that you can keep in your heart the spirit of love and joy found
at Christmas.
