“They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Mark 12:44
Have you ever struggled about the significance of your contribution to God’s kingdom? Have you felt like no one has noticed your hard work? Ever wondered if your faithfulness really matters at all?
A couple days before His crucifixion, Jesus took time to notice the unnoticeable—this time a poor widow. Destitute of wealth or status, she was invisible to her community. Yet here she was, waiting in line to give her offering while the prestigious, wealthy people were drawing attention by throwing in large amounts. The ceramic receptacle for the offerings would have been big and cone shaped so that coins thrown in would spiral down, making noise until they hit the bottom…conveniently announcing to others how large an offering it was. This poor widow left her tiny gift, sending out the insignificant sound of just two small coins.
But Jesus noticed! In fact, He used her extravagant offering as a lesson for His disciples because she gave all she had. If you are feeling insignificant, remember that Jesus notices!
