"'What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?' Jesus answered them, 'Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.'"
(JOHN 2:18-19)

John 2:12-22
The Saturday before Resurrection Day is somewhat of a mysterious day to us. While the events of the previous day are so graphic and detailed and the following day is so glorious, the time between Good Friday and Easter seems insignificant. Many people ask, “What was Jesus doing on Saturday?” Though we may long for more detail, Scripture provides us with all we need to know.

One solution to the mystery is obvious: Jesus was proving that He was really dead. By proving He was dead, He proved that His resurrection was resurrection, not resuscitation. There was no way a crucified human body could resuscitate after being placed in a cold, stone chamber for all that time. As He predicted, He raised Himself from the dead, holding the power over life and death, even while His own body was dead.

Jesus still has that kind of power. Nothing is impossible to Someone who has raised Himself from death. Even when our lives seem like they’re at a dead end, He is working to prove His resurrection power in us.
