“For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

Psalm 107:9
We know how it feels to have an empty stomach. We become distracted and irritable. We may exhibit irrational behavior, like swerving across three lanes of traffic to pull into a Burger King. But do you know how it feels to have a hungry soul?
Psalm 107 speaks to us about both types of hunger—of the body as well as the soul. Those wandering through the desert need food, water, and shelter, but they also long for a place to call home, something more than just a roof over their heads. “Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them” (v. 5).
By talking about both hungers, God’s Word assures us that He not only knows our needs, but He also created them. He made us hungry so He could feed us. He gave Adam an appetite and then placed him in a garden. He made Adam lonely and then created Eve. God is still the One who satisfies the needs of both our bodies and our souls. Though our longings may cause us to sink and to sin, we can cry out to Him in our trouble. Watch and see how He satisfies your soul and fills you with good things.
