“Let the redeemed of the LORD say this—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.”

Psalm 107:2-3
The Christian life is a journey. It is walking in Christ and after Christ in the footsteps of faith, with the tenacity of hope, and with a disposition of love. All of these look to Jesus. Without Him we are lost. Apart from Him we can do nothing. Walking in any direction we want, in any manner we like, will only ensure that we stay lost. Every road, save one, leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14). The way that leads to life is narrow, sometimes dangerous, and often hard, but every saint must traverse its peaks and climb in and out of its valleys, making his way toward glory.

At the end of the day, it is Jesus who sees us safely home to our haven of rest. But He does not send us empty-handed for our journey. He dresses us in the armor of God, cultivating within us the fruits of the Spirit. And into the heart of every pilgrim, He deposits the threefold gift of faith, hope, and love. Faith gets us out the door, hope keeps us climbing, and love lends a helping hand to fellow travelers we encounter along the way.
