“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon!’”

Revelation 22:20
My dad often spoke about the days when he first became a follower of Christ. He said they would leave the church late after an evening service, and he would look up into the sky and say, “I don’t think we’ll make it home tonight. I think Jesus is coming now.” What a way to live—anticipating Jesus’ return!
With all of life’s preoccupations, it is easy to forget about heaven. We don’t often stop to consider what Jesus meant when He said “soon.” Perhaps we don’t want to admit what we know is true: Jesus’ return could happen at any time.
Thankfully, the longer and closer we walk with the Lord, the more we really do long for heaven. We don’t know the day or the hour when Christ is coming back, but He said it would be soon, and He warned us to be looking up. We are to live with expectancy of that time, not with our sights set merely on the trappings of this world. For this is certain: Jesus is coming again for those who are looking for Him. Let’s make sure our hearts are ready, because we might truly be going Home tonight!
