"I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

Philippians 4:13
I have a close friend who could write a book on the turmoil of life. Yet, when I speak with him, he radiates the calm spirit of being in Christ. Philippians 4:13 could be his life verse.
Serving as a law enforcement chaplain and knowing the chaos, challenges, and stresses both on and off the job, I deeply desire to work with people so they would grow and mature in Christ. How else will they face the day’s new tragedies?
Philippians 4 offers guidance for maturing as a believer. Notice how Paul affirms those who have helped and provided for him (v.10, 14, 16). Whom do you feel indebted to for helping you grow spiritually? Also Paul modeled contentment. Issues didn’t mar his attitude (v. 11). Moreover, Paul was flexible. His deep trust was in Jesus Christ who was sufficient for his every need (v. 19). Finally, Paul was confident that Christ would strengthen him for any challenge.
Get rid of that which hinders your spiritual maturity. Respond to God’s call on your life. Let your life testify to His strength working in you.
