I love the story of Moses and the burning bush. It reminds me of how very personal God is when He confronts us. God drew near to Moses through flames in the desert. Can you imagine standing there, stunned as the plant burned but was not destroyed?
God drew near to me one day when I was home from school, sick with the flu, listening to music my Mom wouldn’t have appreciated, and a news alert came on the radio. Five men, missionaries in Ecuador, had been martyred by Indians, and their bodies had been found. This became a pivotal challenge point in my life of faith; I knew God was sowing in me a seed for some kind of ministry work.
God had given Moses a sign that he was God’s man to lead His people out of Egypt and eventually through the Red Sea. That unconsumed burning bush became a pivotal point for Moses’ faith. For me, the death of those five brave missionaries became a call of God on my life.
Now, look within your own life. Might God be summoning you? He may come in a stunning way, or He may call to you gently.
