“I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.”

Psalm 89:1-2
The words from that wonderful hymn given to us by Thomas O. Chisholm, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” declare that God is never-changing. As He has been He will forever be. Faithfulness must be tested and proven over a period of time. In Scripture we have that record of God’s faithfulness upon which we can build our lives.
Going through the Advent season in our western culture can be a challenge to our faith. Often in the flurry of activities and events, the wonder of Jesus becoming flesh and dwelling among us gets lost. Many of us face January recovering from the hurts and disappointments experienced in what was promised to be “the most wonderful time of the year.”
Keep Christ at the center of your life this year. Remember how much more faithful He is than anything our holiday festivities can offer. Consider making 2019 a year of praying and singing “Great is Thy Faithfulness” as you start each new day. “All I have needed Thy hand has provided/Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord, unto me!” Why would we ever look to another source?
