“How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation.”

Daniel 4:3
If you know anything about King Nebuchadnezzar in the Bible, you would not expect these words to come from his mouth. But they did! The leader known for his wickedness was telling all the people how great God is! He even declared it was his pleasure to tell about the Most High God (v. 1).
How does this happen? Consider the work of God’s Spirit through His chosen representative, Daniel. Somehow through Daniel’s faithful commitment and trust in God, there came a time when his life influenced this king to consider the true King. Though we do not know of Nebuchadnezzar making a lasting choice to follow God, at this point he powerfully declares the Lord’s mighty acts. Daniel’s life of prayer may have left an impression on him. The commitment, humility, and thanksgiving of Daniel all may have stirred the heart of one of the world’s most ruthless rulers. The Spirit was at work!
Never underestimate the influence of a godly life and the power of prayer. Often our faith shines out for Jesus even in the midst of difficult times.
