“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Joshua 24:15
Character is revealed when life collides with our Christian walk. Who we are comes oozing out. Are we responding to impress others, or are we responding in surrender to God’s power and plan in us? Regardless of who is or isn’t watching, we as believers in Jesus ought to be aware only of our audience of One. Developing the character that seeks the Father more than the approval of man is an ongoing process.
My great-grandma said this to my dad on his wedding day: “The most important sermon you will ever preach is the one you live out every day in your home.” What the world sees and what our family sees should line up.
Godly character grows when you turn yourself off. As Christmas approaches, you’ll have opportunities to let the grace of Jesus shine through your good character. Your actions may speak louder than words as you join in at the company holiday party, wait in a long line at a store, or visit people you see only at this time of year. Keeping Christ in Christmas will involve letting Christ’s character shine through!
