"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing, love; according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin."
(PSALM 51:1-2)

Psalm 51
“Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom” (Amos 9:8). What a sobering truth this is, especially for a person deeply aware of his sin before that holy God.

The mistake I made was not being able to quit my drinking. That led me to do other things I am so sorry for. I have asked God to forgive me for doing these things and for hurting many people, particularly my family. My crimes are costing me six years in prison.

But since being in prison, the Lord has had “mercy on me according to His unfailing love.” I have been reading the Bible daily, and by doing so am dealing with my guilt. As a
Christian, I will continue doing God’s will. And when it is time for me to leave this earth I will stand face-to-face with my Savior, forgiven for all my wrong doings and able to hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” If a person like me can be cleansed from my sin, won’t you choose Jesus along with me so that He can purify your heart and renew a steadfast spirit in
you (see v. 10)?
